About the Role
My client, a leading provider of integrated life safety and security systems, is seeking an experienced and technically capable Warden Call Engineer to join their dynamic engineering team. With a growing portfolio of contracts in care homes, sheltered housing, and supported living facilities across the Midlands and South East, this is a fantastic opportunity for a field-based engineer to join a forward-thinking business with a strong reputation for service quality and technical excellence.
This role would ideally suit an engineer based anywhere between Birmingham and London, with flexibility to travel across the region.
Key Responsibilities

Installation, Service & Maintenance:
Carry out installation, testing, commissioning, servicing, and fault diagnosis of warden call and telecare systems, including both legacy analogue and newer IP-based technologies. -
Reactive & Planned Maintenance:
Attend reactive callouts and complete scheduled PPMs to ensure systems are compliant, safe, and fully operational in accordance with client SLAs. -
Technical Proficiency:
Work with systems from leading manufacturers including Tunstall, Jontek, Chubb, Aid Call, Courtney Thorne, and others. Configure and program control panels and devices to meet client requirements. -
Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure all works are completed in line with BS5839, BS8601, and manufacturer guidelines. Maintain accurate job sheets and service records via the company’s digital job management platform. -
Customer Interaction:
Liaise directly with care home managers, facilities teams, housing associations, and vulnerable end users in a professional and courteous manner. Deliver solutions with minimal disruption to daily operations. -
Team Collaboration & On-Call Support:
Participate in a shared on-call rota for emergency breakdown support and offer remote or phone-based diagnostics as needed.
Essential Skills & Experience

Minimum 2 years' experience servicing or installing warden call, nurse call, or telecare systems

Proven ability to diagnose faults and perform corrective actions independently

Familiarity with Tunstall, Jontek, or Courtney Thorne systems (or similar)

Full, clean UK Driving Licence

ECS/CSCS card or willingness to obtain

Strong customer service and communication skills

Basic IT literacy — comfortable using mobile job management software and basic networked systems
Desirable (But Not Essential)

Experience working with IP-based life safety systems

Understanding of access control, door entry, or CCTV systems

City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical or Electronic Engineering

Experience working in live care environments or with vulnerable service users
