About the Role

My client, a leading provider of integrated life safety and security systems, is seeking an experienced and technically capable Warden Call Engineer to join their dynamic engineering team. With a growing portfolio of contracts in care homes, sheltered housing, and supported living facilities across the Midlands and South East, this is a fantastic opportunity for a field-based engineer to join a forward-thinking business with a strong reputation for service quality and technical excellence.

This role would ideally suit an engineer based anywhere between Birmingham and London, with flexibility to travel across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation, Service & Maintenance:
Carry out installation, testing, commissioning, servicing, and fault diagnosis of warden call and telecare systems, including both legacy analogue and newer IP-based technologies.

  • Reactive & Planned Maintenance:
Attend reactive callouts and complete scheduled PPMs to ensure systems are compliant, safe, and fully operational in accordance with client SLAs.

  • Technical Proficiency:
Work with systems from leading manufacturers including Tunstall, Jontek, Chubb, Aid Call, Courtney Thorne, and others. Configure and program control panels and devices to meet client requirements.

  • Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure all works are completed in line with BS5839, BS8601, and manufacturer guidelines. Maintain accurate job sheets and service records via the company’s digital job management platform.

  • Customer Interaction:
Liaise directly with care home managers, facilities teams, housing associations, and vulnerable end users in a professional and courteous manner. Deliver solutions with minimal disruption to daily operations.

  • Team Collaboration & On-Call Support:
Participate in a shared on-call rota for emergency breakdown support and offer remote or phone-based diagnostics as needed.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience servicing or installing warden call, nurse call, or telecare systems

  • Proven ability to diagnose faults and perform corrective actions independently

  • Familiarity with Tunstall, Jontek, or Courtney Thorne systems (or similar)

  • Full, clean UK Driving Licence

  • ECS/CSCS card or willingness to obtain

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Basic IT literacy — comfortable using mobile job management software and basic networked systems

Desirable (But Not Essential)

  • Experience working with IP-based life safety systems

  • Understanding of access control, door entry, or CCTV systems

  • City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical or Electronic Engineering

  • Experience working in live care environments or with vulnerable service users

  • ? Company Vehicle: Fully expensed van

  • ? Tools & Equipment: Mobile phone, laptop/tablet, tools, and uniform provided

  • ? Overtime & On-Call Allowance: Paid generously, with regular earning potential beyond base salary

  • ? Training & Development: Ongoing manufacturer and compliance training; clear progression path
